How this is calculated

For a percentage rise, we multiply your current amount by (1 + percentage ÷ 100). For a fixed rise, we simply add the amount you enter.

If you're entering an hourly rate, we convert both the current and new amounts to an annual figure using the hours and weeks per year you provide, so the dollar increases are comparable.

Formula

New amount (percentage) = current amount × (1 + rise % ÷ 100)New amount (fixed) = current amount + fixed riseIncrease (annual) = new annual amount − current annual amount

Worked example

A $60,000 salary with a 5% rise becomes $63,000 — an increase of $3,000 a year, about $250 a month, or roughly $58 a week.
